The Action-LADA team based at the Clinical School, University of Wales Swansea consists of Rhys Williams, Sinead Brophy and Sally Belcher.

Rhys is Professor of Clinical Epidemiology at the University, Sinead is Lecturer in Epidemiology and Sally is Secretarial Assistant.

Mark Airey (Senior Research Fellow) is based at the Nuffield Institute, Leeds University (www.nuffield.leeds.ac.uk). Mark is also responsible for maintaining this website.

This completes the team co-ordinating the epidemiological component of Action-LADA.

The Clinical School at the University of Wales Swansea (http://www.medicine.swan.ac.uk) is a new institution which will be welcoming its first intake of medical students this coming September. Its developing research programme includes, in addition to diabetes epidemiology and health services research, activities in the fields of obesity, asthma and other atopic conditions, childhood immune and gastroenterological disorders, the prevention of accidents and injuries, cancer therapy and the delivery of primary care services.

The University of Wales Swansea (http://www.swan.ac.uk) was established in 1920 and is situated on a pleasant site overlooking Swansea Bay. The neighbouring Gower Penninsula is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has some of the finest beaches and coastal scenery in the country. The University of Wales is a bilingual institution offering a wide range of courses taught through the media of English and Welsh.
